Description

In this homage to Outlander by Suzanne D. Gaadt, the artwork celebrates a few of the symbols and meanings contained in the first book of the beloved Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. The castle glows within a moon-filled sky and a silver compass ring with the name Craig Na Dun. Notice the large standing stones and small forget-me-nots in front of them. The hedgehogs represent Jamie and Claire: a line in the first book refers to the two animals. The flags of Scotland and England fly on either side of a WWII British fighter plane and medic’s helmet. The initials for Jamie and Claire are intertwined in Celtic knots while the purple mountains of the Highlands ground the scene. What do you think the key inside the heart at the bottom opens?
